Integrity. This is something that not many people even discuss anymore. I would dare to say that many young adults don’t even know what this word even means. Informally, it basically means to ‘do what you say and say what you do‘. Growing up I used to find myself always wanting to say the right thing when I was with a girl I liked. I just wanted to impress her. It was all about being cool in those days.
Now, today’s dating game is all about texting, and how you look on social media. So the ability to communicate your feelings through text is so important. The balancing act of showing interest, while not coming off too strong or opinionated in your text messages can be really important. I hate texting. And, I know my texts are regularly misunderstood, but I’m trying to text better.
And, I’m just speculating, but it seems to me that most women would rather take 20 minutes to update their daily status on social media about how they’re lonely or how they’re waiting on the right man, than reply to a text message from a guy who’s pursing them, or even open up their heart to talk and get to know someone. It is because social media provides more safety than real relationships? Maybe. Probably.
Well, what I do know is that the single life is kicking my butt. I’m not winning in this dating game. And, I feel like I’m a smart guy, but honestly I really don’t know if what I’m doing is right or wrong, because it’s so hard just to find women to connect with. It’s like everybody’s busy, or they live across the country.
In relationships, no one says or does the right thing all the time. I promise you even our president isn’t perfect, and he’s one of the most intelligent leaders our nation has ever had. And, I promise you everyone who looks at the first family sees love… and it starts with the first lady. I feel Michelle is a woman who has a great understanding of what she wants from Barack, and what he needs from her. That type of understanding only comes with good communication.
In my life people have been so critical of me. And, at times I feel I have to always say and do the right thing. Which isn’t a bad thing. I’m not perfect, and I don’t expect perfection from anyone else. But, I am a person who values integrity. It’s just another thing that makes me who I am.
I feel your pain; you are speaking my life π
Thanks π! It feels good that someone understands.
You know this topic has really been on my heart, I’m going to write a follow-up blog to it.
