Age does have a little to do with it, since the older a person becomes the more experiences they have been though, which will naturally change their perception on life and cause them to be mature. It’s like, you will never see a 50 year old cry because someone called them a bad name or said they were ugly, because they understand that there are just rude and obnoxious people in this world, and it’s nothing to get emotional about.

Maturity doesn’t change who you are, it changes how you think. As I’ve been living in Los Angeles the past few years, being away from the things which are normal to me, I have learned so much just in the short time I’ve been in here; about myself and about life. I’ve experienced life-changing realizations that has totally revamped my way of thinking. I believe the greatest thing that I’ve learned since I’ve been here so far is that… it’s nothing wrong with taking chances/opportunities, without having full clarity on if it is the right fit your you. I’ve basically learned to have a better attitude about trying things out. I’ve found that no one knows the future, whether this or that will happen. It’s not that I want to try and do everything; it’s just that I need to be more open-minded. Because I feel when I limit myself from taking opportunities, I am also placing a limit on my future blessings.

I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships with people from varied walks of life, which has allowed me to see the world through their eyes. Last year I had the opportunity to develop a relationship with my old roommate, who is from Seattle. And the lifestyle he lived in Seattle is totally different from my life in small town Louisiana. Hearing the stories that he shared with me about his life totally caused me to be more open minded. It’s like I realized that there are so many people who didn’t grow up the way I did, and just understanding the reasoning behind their life choices helps me to not judge, embrace differences, and ultimately be more mature.
