Sex.

I recently made a decision to write a blog about sex. It’s not because I long to converse and discuss my sex life or lack thereof. Plus I really desire to practice celibacy until marriage, as I feel that is something that would be pleasing to God and my future wife. Writing this blog has been on my mind for a little over a week now, after a conversation with a close friend on how the church should talk about sex more to the younger generation.

This past weekend, I was talking with a good friend of mine about life in general, and she mentioned something to me that struck a deep cord as she said, “…there needs to be more sermons at church about sex, as it is a huge issue for young adults.” I was like, “Yeah, you’re right. But, I don’t think it’s that big of an issue.” Immediately after I said that so calmly, she then looked at me like I was crazy! And, as we talked a little further, I realized that I was crazy 🙂 . In my mind, I view sex as something beautiful and intimate, as it’s something special that I’ve only shared with the women in my life that I’ve loved with all of my heart. However, not everyone looks at sex like that. And, just because sex isn’t a big issue for me, doesn’t mean it’s not a big issue, or topic of conversation, for others.

So this past week, I decided to pay more attention to random topics of conversations with people I work with. Just to tap into the mindset of the average person. I made an extra effort since I know I can easily seclude myself and ignore the world, as I don’t like being around ignorance and immature people. And, just in the last few days, I could easily see that for many young men and women, SEX is probably the hottest topic of discussion in most social circles. And, if it’s not being openly discussed, then it’s definitely being thought about constantly. I even heard that in Oregon a 15 year old can get a sex change without their parent’s permission!!! OMG that is crazy!

Topics on sex was being talked about so much I probably have learned to ignore most discussions, labeling them as unworthy of my attention, mentally blocking it out of my brain. Friends, including me, were talking about and making jokes about size of genitals. There were friends in relationships, whether married or dating, were discussing their personal sex life. You always have your old men who brag about their younger days and love to tell stories of the women they’ve been with. I talked to a few young women who opened up about their sex life with guys, and different positions they like. I’ve even had some people talk about beastiality (sex with animals) jokingly… and to me beastiality isn’t funny at the least bit, I feel it’s probably one of the most corrupt things a person can even think about.

Some of my friends call me “square”… basically what they mean by that is I don’t indulge in too many pleasures, or I’m a “church boy”. Well, I’m a 35 year old man, and I’m not getting any younger 🙂 . I honestly learn something new about sex or women over 50% of the time when I open up my ears to conversations on topics about sex. Even though I like talking about it in a meaningful respectful manner, I don’t really have a lot to say about it. As I’m not the most sexually experienced guy, plus I don’t talk about that with just anyone.

I love women. I think women are the most beautiful creatures in all of creation. There is no other feeling like when you’re holding the one you love. I love women of all shades, shapes, and sizes. Though I find athletic women the most attractive. Honestly I don’t know what wisdom, enlightenment, or how I can help anyone in regards to sex. If you’re having trouble finding the right person, or getting convicted about having sex while unmarried, I suppose all you can do is pray about it and use wisdom. I feel if you’re going to do it, then USE PROTECTION!! But, no one has all the right answers when it comes to this topic on the birds and the bees. I really don’t have too many men I respect and listen to when it comes to this… I mainly follow my heart and go to the Bible for wisdom. So, I wrote down a few verses about sex, relationships and having immoral thoughts below:
