“So what exactly have you been thinking about”… you may ask? For the last few days I have been thinking on several issues that many Christians, specifically, have various opinions on; and I just wanted to discuss my opinions on them.
- ENCOURAGEMENT – I deeply feel that the value of kind heartfelt words of encouragement can be immeasurable when given at the right time. Encouraging words brings hope, it could brighten someone’s smile, or cause them to have a positive attitude. Everyone is going through something, and we all need to be encouraged. Just yesterday, one of my best friends called just to check on me. Yet though we haven’t spoken in over nine months, it made me feel good and I felt encouraged because I know that my friend is busy and just getting a call let me know that my friend still cared about me. I feel that we all should make an effort to be more vocal with how we encourage and speak blessings upon others, because we give life through our words.
- FORGIVENESS – everyday, in some way or fashion, someone is going to disrespect you, speak harshly to you, treat you unfairly, or maybe they will just ignore you. If you don’t know how to let things go, you will never be able to move forward. One thing that is so hard for me to understand… is why do so many people have so much trouble saying these words, ‘I’m sorry, will you forgive me.‘ Saying, “I’m sorry” is a form of humility, which is a sign of lowliness or submissiveness, and when possessed by a person of respect will ultimately show authenticity, confidence, and security. All of which leads me to believe that it is reasonable to say that people who have issues with asking for forgiveness or forgiving others, also may have issues with their own personal level of confidence and security in who they are.
- JUDGMENTAL – OK… I feel that it is clearly a factual statement to say, that there are some judgmental Christians out there who speak out of ignorance and not out of wisdom, and they may cause offense to people everyday. And, by judgmental I mean this: when someone makes a moral judgement on a person’s character, based on an objective opinion. However, there are also many people who are looking to be offended by Christians, and often find offense even when none is given. There is also a difference between JUDGING someone and making someone ACCOUNTABLE for their actions. I feel that there are a lot of people who feel like they are being judged by others all the time… but, in most cases I feel that they are looking to be offended when they are simply just being made accountable for their immoral actions.
